Alvernia Field Hockey Announces 2023 Schedule – Alvernia University Athletics

Reading, Pa. (June 21, 2023) – Alvernia University Field Hockey released its 2023 schedule today, with the 2023 season set to begin on September 1st.

Alvernia kicks off its 2023 campaign hosting Gettysburg University on Friday, September 1sts. Alvernia has played the Bullets every full season since 2016. Three of the matchups have gone to overtime, and five of the six matchups since 2016 have been decided by just one goal.

The Golden Wolves are then on the road for two straight games at Bryn Mawr and Wilkes, before returning home on September 9th to kickoff a three game home stand. Alvernia will host Haverford, Arcadia, and Stockton during the home stand.

Alvernia is then on the road for five of its six next games. The road trip includes a stop at Franklin and Marshall on September 20th, and a trip to Lebanon Valley on September 30th. It will be Alvernia’s first time facing the Dutchmen as a non-conference opponent in over a decade as Lebanon Valley moves to the MAC Freedom starting this season. Alvernia’s road trip concludes on October 7th with its MAC Commonwealth opener at York. The game marks a rematch of the 2022 MAC Commonwealth semifinal that saw the Spartans edge out Alvernia, 2-1.

The Golden Wolves return home on October 11th to host Eastern University, and then host crosstown rival Albright on October 14th as the final game of Alvernia’s Homecoming and Family Weekend.

After a trip down to Hood on October 18th, Alvernia is back home on October 21st to take on 15-time defending MAC Commonwealth champion Messiah. The Golden Wolves remain home on October 25th for their home season finale against Stevenson. Alvernia then closes out the regular season on the road at Widener.
