Aston Villa have Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho as one of their targets this summer
As per Rudy Galetti of Dello Sport, via GiveMeSport (h/t Birmingham Mail), Aston Villa are targeting a move for Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho during the summer transfer window.
The report also reveals that the Red Devils are willing to sell the England international, who arrived at the club two years ago from Borussia Dortmund for a transfer that cost around £73m.
Having secured Europa Conference League football for next under Unai Emery, Villa will have European football to offer to Sancho.
The winger has had an underwhelming in a United shirt so far. The former Manchester City youth player has only scored 12 goals and assisted six in 79 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils.
It is in contrast to how well he was playing for Dortmund. If we look at his numbers there, the 23-year-old scored 50 goals and assisted 64 in 137 appearances in all competitions.
Even in the FA Cup final a couple of weeks ago, the Englishman was anonymous and his replacement Alejandro Garnacho made more impact in fewer minutes compared to him.
Keeping all those things in mind, it might not be a bad idea for United to let Sancho go this summer. It might be good for the player as well because the United shirt seems heavy to him at the moment.
Moreover, the club could do with some money from player sales that can be used to make key signings in the window. If they sign a striker, Marcus Rashford can permanently play on the left wing, which is where Sancho likes to operate anyway.

For Sancho, a move to Villa might free him up to do well there. He is still a young player who can reignite his career in the West Midlands and make a move to a bigger club (in current stature) in the coming years.
