Brentford are reportedly ‘working’ on deals for Seongnam defender Kim Ji-Soo and Freiburg goalkeeper Mark Flekken ahead of next season. The Bees have identified the pair as two players to bolster their squad this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, Thomas Frank’s side are looking to snap up Ji-Soo for just £560,000. They are also said to be in ‘advanced’ talks with Flekken over a switch to the Gtech Community Stadium after cooling their interest in Liverpool stopper Caoimhin Kelleher.

Brentford have had another impressive season in the Premier League and will be eager to build on it next time around. The London club are sat in 9th place with two games left to play.

They could see Ji-Soo as a decent long-term option in the heart of defence. The 18-year-old, who stands at 6ft 4inc, is being tipped for a bright future in the game and is a South Korea youth international.

He has played for Seongnam since 2017 and has already broken into their first-team. He made 19 appearances last term and his current club are facing a battle to keep hold of him now amid interest from elsewhere.

Brentford will need a new ‘keeper if David Raya completes his expected exit at the end of this campaign and may see Flekken as the ideal candidate to fill their vacancy between the sticks. He has been a standout player for Freiburg in the Bundesliga over recent years and has experience of playing in Europe.

The Dutchman moved to the Europa-Park Stadion back in 2018 having previously had spells at Alemannia Aachen, Greuther Fürth and MSV Duisburg. He has since played 95 games, 42 of which have come this season.

In other Brentford news, Crewe Alexandra have confirmed that young attacker Lachlan Brook has returned to his parent club following the expiration of his loan. He scored three goals in 34 matches for the Cheshire outfit.
