The Chattanooga Red Wolves announced on Twitter Tuesday they have parted ways with head coach Ziggy Korytoski and promoted former Baylor School and Chattanooga Christian School coach Jimmy Weekley to interim head coach for the second year in a row.
The Red Wolves were off to a 3-7-2 start, with its 11 points ranking 11th in the 12-team USL League One standings. The most glaring issue was an offense that scored just 10 goals in those 12 matches, which also ranked 11th, but the defense wasn’t much better, conceding 19 goals — also second-worst in the league.
With a franchise that management has stated “can’t afford to be bad,” changes had to be made.
Weekley again gets tasked to step into a difficult situation. He took over for Jimmy Obleda in 2022 after the three-year leader of the club was suspended indefinitely and proceded to guide the Red Wolves to the USL League One final, where they fell 2-1 to South Georgia Tormenta FC. Weekley was 8-4-5 last season after taking over.
The Red Wolves travel to face Greenville Triumph SC Wednesday at 7:30.
