De Zerbi ‘We have to close the page’

Head coach Roberto De Zerbi says his players have to ‘turn a page’ and quickly put their Wembley disappointment behind them and focus on the push for European football.

Albion lost a penalty shoot-out after drawing 0-0 against Manchester United in Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final.

De Zerbi’s side had some good opportunities to win it during normal time but after six successful spot-kicks Solly March fired his over the bar and Victor Lindelof won it for United.

Albion players show their disappointment after losing the shoot-out.

De Zerbi said, “It’s football. We are disappointed and very sad because we played a great game. We have a lot of injuries and we suffered due to this situation. It’s sad for us and for our fans.

“We made some mistakes in the final pass around the goal area but I’m really pleased with the performance from my players.

“We have to close this page and think about the next game on Wednesday in Nottingham. We have a lot of games and want to get into Europe. This is what I told the players afterwards. We win games together and lose together, this can happen in football. But I believe in my players, we will come back strong I’m sure.”
