‘Extraordinary’ 20-year-old who Newcastle want wins his first league title

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Ansu Fati this summer, who became a La Liga title winner with Barcelona for the first time in his career on Sunday night.

Barcelona were confirmed as the champions of Spain this weekend, beating Espanyol 4-2 away from home in the derby.

The win against their rivals means that they cannot be caught at the top of the La Liga table, and ends their four year spell without a title.

Before this season, the last time Barca won the league in Spain was 2019. Now they are champions again, with Fati winning the second major trophy of his career at the age of 20.

His La Liga winner’s medal will go alongside the Copa Del Rey he won in 2021, but it could be the last honour he wins as a Barcelona player.

La Liga winner Ansu Fati could be on the way out of Barcelona

While Barcelona have won La Liga, it has been a season to forget for Fati.

The winger has not played as regularly as he would like, having recovered from the injuries that plagued him last season.

He has featured in 32 of Barcelona’s 34 league games so far, but has only been named in the starting lineup on 11 occasions. That is not enough for the man that was given Lionel Messi’s shirt number when the forward left the Nou Camp.

In his 32 La Liga appearances, Fati has scored four goals and provided four assists.

His lack of minutes has led to speculation that Fati is unhappy and could leave Barcelona at the end of the season. Newcastle have been linked with the Spaniard, and it is claimed that a loan deal could be on the cards.

While it has not been a great season for Fati, he is certainly a top class talent with a huge amount of potential. He has been called ‘extraordinary‘ by his manager Xavi, but he might not be his manager for much longer.

If Fati does decide to leave Barcelona, he will leave as a La Liga winner.
