Manchester United have lost several of their key players as well as transfer targets to Real Madrid in the past and there’s a chance that the name of Harry Kane could be added to that list.

Real Madrid will likely lose Karim Benzema to the Saudi Pro League which means Florentino Perez will have to scurry and sign a world-class replacement during the summer transfer window.

The reports are suggesting that Madrid have identified Harry Kane as the long-term replacement for Benzema and they will challenge Manchester United in this transfer race.

Kane’s contract with Spurs expires in 2024 and since he is not ready to sign a new deal, there’s a huge possibility Daniel Levy will cash in on him in the next couple of months.

Will Real Madrid be successful in signing Harry Kane?

Despite the fact that Harry Kane has only one year left on his contract, Spurs will only let him go if a club offers €100 million plus for the striker.

According to a report by Fichajes, even though Perez thinks Kane will be the ideal replacement for Benzema, he is ready to spend only €60 million on the 29-year-old.

This figure is not even close to what Tottenham want for their star player but Cadena SER’s Francisco Jose Delgado is claiming that Madrid could think of a cash-plus-player deal.

The journalist has said: “In the operation ‘cheapening of Kane’ we have given the name of Hazard. I’m going to put another one on the table: Ferland Mendy, who could become part of all the conversations.”

Will Kane be playing for a new club next season?

As per The Sun(h/t Four Four Two), Harry Kane wants to leave asap but he has told chairman Daniel Levy that he is not keen to play in a foreign league and will only join Manchester United.

However, journalist David Ornstein has revealed that Spurs do not want to sell the England international this summer, even if that means risking losing him for free next year.

The journalist told Sky Sports: “Daniel Levy knows it’s near impossible to replace him, even if you get £100m for him. It’s going to take a much, much higher fee for Tottenham to even consider letting him go.

“They’ll carry on these contract talks into next season even if it takes that, even maybe if it means him leaving as a free agent and kicking this can down the road and addressing it in 2024.”

Despite Madrid’s interest, Manchester United are still very much the favourites to sign the striker but Daniel Levy will try all he can to stop him from leaving. Kane is going to turn 30 in July and he knows very well that this is the final chance he will get to join a major club and seriously challenge for silverware over the next three or four seasons.
