‘In a heartbeat’ – Shaw admits England duo would help United achieve their goals

Luke Shaw is seemingly doing more work than the Glazers to bring Erik ten Hag’s transfer targets to Old Trafford.

The left-back is currently on international duty with England and the team will play their Euro qualifier against North Macedonia at Old Trafford tonight, so Shaw is using the opportunity to make United-linked players grow accustomed to the facilities.

He admitted in a pre-match press conference that he’d been “tapping up” some of his teammates, which likely includes his cheeky Instagram story alongside Harry Kane and Declan Rice, both of which have been rumoured of a move to M16. Shaw captioned the post “Carrington tour” with a side-eye emoji, sparking speculation among supporters.

Meanwhile, Ten Hag’s hands are tied when it comes to navigating the transfer market due to the ongoing delay in the takeover process. The Glazers are dragging their heels when it comes to communicating a preferred bidder and consequently, the manager is left with little clarity on his budget and the club’s plans.

This, obviously, is impacting matters. It was reported that United had ended their pursuit of Kane due to the high valuation that Tottenham Hotspur have of their all-time top goalscorer. As well as that, Arsenal are preparing a big-money bid for Rice, who is open to joining Mikel Arteta’s project.

Shaw wants England teammates at United

Still, Shaw is doing all the groundwork he can during the England camp to bring the sought-after stars to Manchester.

He said (via The Guardian): “Because of the timing of the season and what’s going on, there is a lot of talk. I can’t lie, I’d love a few of them to come to United, I’m not going to lie. I am speaking to them telling them how good Manchester is because I know their qualities.

“They’re world-class players and they’d add massive strength to us. But of course, I can only say so much, it’s down to the club and what they decide. They’ve been here [Carrington] the last couple of days, hopefully, they like and get used to it. I was only half-joking [about his Instagram post], it’s a bit of both. Like I said there, I know they’re both world-class players. Of course, I don’t know what’s going on with the situation at their clubs but if it was down to me, I’d take them in a heartbeat. They’d help us go on to what we want to achieve.”
