Jordan Henderson issues fitness update for Liverpool’s final three games
Jordan Henderson has revealed that his fitness is now as good as it has been all season as Liverpool head into the final three games of the Premier League campaign.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the 32-year-old Anfield captain said that he is feeling good and ready for Liverpool’s last fixtures of the season, where Henderson will be hopeful of pushing Jurgen Klopp’s side into the top-four with a little help from Manchester United slipping up.
The £20m midfielder has been a mainstay for Liverpool this season with Henderson making 40 appearances in all competitions for the Reds, playing close to 2,4000 minutes in what has been a hectic year for the Merseyside giants.
With just three games left to go, though, Liverpool stand with a chance of salvaging something from this season with an unlikely top-four finish that could save the entire campaign having gone the entire year not winning any silverware.
And Henderson’s fitness could be key, with the midfielder saying ahead of the last three matches: “I feel really good still to be honest. Of course, as you get a bit older, you need to look at the 1% details, recovery for example. Especially when you’re playing every three days.”
Henderson’s fitness could get Liverpool over the line
Henderson staying largely fit for the season has been key for Liverpool in more ways that supporters could actually realise, with that extra body in midfield, no matter how underwhelming it has been this year, key in getting Klopp’s men over the line.
And with three games left to go, Henderson’s fitness could now be key in the Reds’ pulling off their greatest miracle yet under Klopp in clinching a top-four spot when such a prospect didn’t look remotely lucky just a mere few weeks ago.
