Man Utd grinning as Harry Kane tells Tottenham he won’t sign new deal until Daniel Levy makes one major change

Harry Kane is causing a ‘huge’ problem at Tottenham after a report revealed the Man Utd target won’t sign a new contract until one thing happens.
Going under the radar thanks to Erling Haaland’s unprecedented numbers is the fact Harry Kane is quietly enjoying one of his greatest ever seasons.
Kane has bagged 26 league goals in a team that has largely been devoid of creativity in midfield.
26 goals would’ve been more than enough to win the EPL’s golden boot in each of the last four seasons. No Premier League player prior to this season had scored more than 23 in a campaign since Mohamed Salah’s mark of 32 in 2017/18.
For all the problems Tottenham are facing, they simply cannot afford to add losing their all-time top scorer to the mix. However, that scenario will continue to remain possible for as long as a new contract goes unsigned.
Kane’s current deal expires in the summer of 2024 and Tottenham are hopeful the 29-year-old will pen fresh terms.
Sky Sports floated the idea Spurs chairman Daniel Levy might refuse to sell Kane even if he doesn’t commit his future. However, that would leave the club open to losing their most valuable asset for nothing if a last-gasp agreement weren’t forged.
Kane has admirers in the form of Man Utd and Bayern Munich. Tottenham would greatly prefer to sell to an overseas side if forced to cash in, though United can likely table the highest bid.
In any case, hope remains Kane will sign on with his boyhood club once again, though per Football Insider, one thing must happen first.
The online outlet state Kane has ‘told Tottenham he will not sign a new contract until a manager is appointed’.
Kane to be consulted in managerial hunt
That is labelled a ‘huge’ problem within Spurs, and the report goes on to suggest Kane will be consulted by Tottenham’s decision-makers before deciding on a candidate.
However, that then throws up a secondary issue: what if Kane likes one contender but the Tottenham chiefs prefer another?
All manner of names have been linked with the post including Julian Nagelsmann, Arne Slot, Graham Potter, Brendan Rodgers Ange Postecoglou and Xabi Alonso.
In the event Tottenham’s manager hunt drags on or they select a candidate against Kane’s wishes, FI reiterate Man Utd are waiting in the wings to strike.
The Red Devils have made signing a top class centre-forward their top priority this summer and few in world football come better than Kane.
Tottenham’s valuation of their talisman is stated to be £100m. However, the report concludes Man Utd are hopeful they can secure a deal for a slightly reduced £85m plus add-ons.
