Man Utd prepare ‘coup of the century’ as Ten Hag takes advantage of transfer ‘betrayal’ and ‘catastrophe’
Man Utd are ready to complete the ‘coup of the century’ by beating Real Madrid to the signing of Kylian Mbappe, according to reports.
The Red Devils are looking to improve their attack in the summer transfer window with the Premier League club still looking for a long-term replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.
More importantly, Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag wants to take some of the goalscoring burden away from Marcus Rashford, who bagged 30 goals in all competitions this term.
Their second top goalscorer was midfielder Bruno Fernandes and, with reports claiming Man Utd have pulled out of a potential deal for Tottenham’s Harry Kane, Ten Hag is now looking for alternatives.
One way to help Ten Hag’s side score more goals would be to break their transfer record to bring in Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
Mbappe has informed Paris Saint-Germain that he won’t be extending his deal past the end of next season and that means the French side are now considering a sale as they don’t want to lose him on a free transfer.
The Red Devils, Chelsea, Real Madrid and others were linked with Mbappe in the 24 hours after the contract announcement – but the France international came out to say he is currently “very happy” at PSG.
However, Mbappe could still leave this summer if PSG decide they have to cash in this summer with speculation they will ask for at least €150m for the forward.
And now Spanish publication Nacional claim Man Utd are preparing for the ‘the coup of the century’ by signing Mbappe ahead of Real Madrid this summer.
Man Utd are ‘prepared to get ahead of Real Madrid for Mbappe’ with the report adding that the La Liga side have ‘not forgiven Mbappe’s betrayal by renewing with Paris Saint-Germain’.
The Red Devils will ‘invest whatever it takes’ to beat Los Blancos to Mbappe’s signing with Ten Hag’s side ‘prepared to launch its economic muscle’.
After spending a fortune on the signing of Jude Bellingham, Real Madrid ‘would need to close some important sale’ before they could compete for Mbappe.
It is now likely that PSG ‘forces his sale’ this summer despite it likely to be ‘a catastrophe’ for the French club with the potential for them to lose Neymar, Mbappe and Lionel Messi, who has joined Inter Miami, in the same summer.
