Manchester United interested in ‘unprecedented’ 22-goal midfielder

Manchester United are being linked with PSV Eindhoven sensation Xavi Simons, however, Paris Saint-Germain hold the key to a deal.
Manchester United hold an interest in PSV Eindhoven midfielder Xavi Simons, reports Dutch outlet Voetbal International.
Simons, 20, has enjoyed remarkable season in the Eredivisie, scoring 22 goals in all competitions and providing nine assists.
The youngster can play both as a central attacking midfielder and a left winger, and would be an exciting player to add to Manchester United’s forward options.

Xavi Simons admired by Ruud van Nistelrooy
Xavi Simons spent the bulk of the 2022/23 season playing under PSV boss Ruud Van Nistelrooy, before his late season departure.
Van Nistelrooy is a big fan of the creative midfielder, praising his attitude in an earlier interview with Voetbal International.
He said: “He’s doing everything he can to get to the top, his top. And where that will be, that’s the beautiful challenge.
“That bit in him, wanting to do everything for that, I recognize that from myself as a player. I can only enjoy that.”
“His mentality, his mindset, it’s unprecedented. It’s a boy of only nineteen years old, but Xavi is already much further advanced than his age.
“But he really is a pure professional, a boy who is working towards a goal, who wants to get the most out of his qualities.”

Paris Saint-Germain lead Xavi Simons chase
Manchester United are not the only team interested in Xavi Simons. Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund are both linked to the midfielder.
However, it is Paris Saint-Germain who hold the key to Simons’ signature this summer.
Fabrizio Romano reports PSG have a buy-back clause of just £5 million for Simons, after he quit the French side a year ago.
This is a bargain fee, but Simons’ future will be down to him. Romano adds: “The final decision is ONLY up to the player.”
He also added that Manchester United are among the teams who have ‘asked to be informed’ about the midfielder’s situation.
A move for Simons seems like a long shot for United, but it is worth monitoring. He is a very special talent, who could thrive under Erik ten Hag.
