Manchester United now looking at signing £35m player only a year after Liverpool sold him

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing Sadio Mane just one year after the Senegal international was sold by Liverpool to Bayern Munich.

According to TZ, the Red Devils are eyeing the 31-year-old winger amid growing rumours that Mane will be sold by Bayern this summer, with the former Liverpool superstar enduring a rough first year in Germany despite leading the Bundesliga giants to the title.

Mane was involved in a now infamous fight with Leroy Sane in Bayern’s 3-0 UEFA Champions League loss to Manchester City. And since then, the attacker has always felt like he will be out the exit door this summer if an offer came in, something United could now provide.

Erik Ten Hag is keen to add an attacker to his ranks this summer, and whilst Mane isn’t the sort of player United fans will be picturing to lead the line, there’s no denying that the former Liverpool superstar would be quite the addition based off his record in the Premier League.

Moreover, with Bayern only signing Mane for £35m last summer, the Bavarian side could be ready to breakeven on the Senegal forward, meaning United could land one of Liverpool’s best players in recent memory on the cheap, a deal that could be an enticing one.

Mane is by all accounts a modern Liverpool legend. The winger was one of the most feared players in the Premier League a cornerstone for one of the best attacking trios the division has ever seen. Yet the now-Bayern star can taint that legacy for good should he move to United.

As we know, the rivalry between the two clubs is arguably the biggest in England. And whilst Mane could move to United via Bayern, Liverpool fans will rightly feel a betrayal if their former attacking sensation decides to return to the Premier League to play for Ten Hag’s Red Devils.
