Manchester United striker target tells club he wants to go after Ten Hag talks

Rasmus Hojlund has reportedly told Atalanta that he wants to leave the Serie A outfit amid talks over a potential dream move to Premier League giants Manchester United.

If you didn’t know already that the 20-year-old Denmark international is keen on a move to Old Trafford, then you really haven’t been paying enough attention.

Only a couple of months ago, he admitted that he was a ‘huge Manchester United fan’, while identifying Red Devils legend Cristiano Ronaldo as something of a personal inspiration. Just in case you didn’t get message, Rasmus Hojlund then took it upon himself to ‘follow’ about every single member of Erik ten Hag’s current squad on Instagram.

It’s what they used to call a ‘come and get me plea’.

The striker’s boyhood dream may soon become a reality too; The Athletic and Manchester Evening News reporting that Hojlund is in talks with Ten Hag and also director John Murtaugh.

Manchester United in for Rasmus Hojlund

The likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich have all been linked too; some of Europe’s biggest clubs all in the market for a centre-forward this summer. But Hojlund’s self-professed adoration for all things Man United should give Ten Hag’s side the advantage.

According to 90Min, Hojlund has now told Atalanta that he is keen to leave the Bergamo-based outfit just one year after arriving from Sturm Graz for a cool £17 million. La Dea now value Hojlund at around £55 million.

While far from the finished product, Hojlund’s searing pace, instinctive finishing and impressive goals-per-game record makes a player so often likened to Erling Haaland a potentially enticing addition to Ten Hag’s upwardly-mobile United outfit.

In 27 starts for club and country, Holjund scored 17 goals in 2022/23.

The Athletic claim that United are also in discussions with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani. Hojlund is seen as the more likely addition, however; Kolo Muani in no rush to leave the 2022 Europa League winners.

“I could stay,” the Frenchman says. “I have a long contract. And, as a result there is of course the possibility that I could (remain) the striker for Eintracht. There will be another time to say goodbye.

“Now is not the right time.”

Hojlund, if he does arrive at Old Trafford, could be joined by Chelsea’s Mason Mount. The England international has agreed personal terms with United (The Guardian).
