Rangers set to pip Leeds United to Los Angeles FC midfielder Jose Cifuentes – Football Today

Rangers are closing in on a deal for Los Angeles FC midfielder Jose Cifuentes, reports the Scottish Sun.
The Scottish Premiership club have been keeping tabs on the Ecuador international for a while.
Leeds United have also been linked with Cifuentes, but it appears Rangers have pipped them to his services.
The Whites are currently battling relegation and have shelved summer transfer plans for now.
Leeds are 18th in the Premier League with two games remaining, and they have to win both games and hope Everton or Nottingham Forest lose to stay up.
Their predicament has given Rangers an advantage, with Micheal Beale’s side in talks with Cifuentes.
French club Toulouse also want to sign the 24-year-old, while Manchester City and Celtic were linked in the past.
LAFC are ready to sell him this summer as opposed to losing him for free in January.
The MLS star is out of contract in December and a move to Europe appeals to him.
Rangers need a major squad revamp after Celtic dominated Scotland without much challenge this term.
They are ending this season without any trophy, while their bitter rivals have won the Scottish League Cup and Premiership.
Celtic are also in the final of the Scottish Cup, and the Light Blues have to reply next season.
Some quality recruitment this summer will help get them back on track for 2023-24.
Rangers have held talks with the Cifuentes’ representatives in the past week and talks have reached an advanced stage.
