Paul Tierney record with Manchester United
Paul Tierney has refereed 22 Manchester United matches in total during his career.
Manchester United have won 14 of these matches, drawn four, and lost four.
Under Erik ten Hag the side are on a three-game win streak, although did lose one on the opening day of the season.
- Manchester United 2-0 v Leeds (a)
- Manchester United 2-1 v Fulham (a)
- Manchester United 3-1 v Arsenal (h)
- Manchester United 1-2 v Brighton (h)
It was the game against Arsenal which featured the most high-profile decisions. This included overturning an early goal for the Gunners, after consulting VAR.
Tierney didn’t exactly favour United though, ignoring a blatant foul on Bruno Fernandes which went unpunished. It was a game Antony will remember well; he scored on his debut.
Tierney record with Manchester City
Manchester City have a strong record when Tierney has been refereeing. They have won 23 of 26 games he has officiated.
City have suffered two losses when he has been in charge – one of these was a defeat at Wembley in 2021.
This was the Community Shield loss they suffered to Leicester City. Not the most important of games – but perhaps a good sign.
Tierney has never refereed a Manchester derby, although City have won the last seven games he has officiated, including their win over Arsenal in the FA Cup earlier this season.
