Report: £40m Chelsea player is less keen on leaving now, he wants to stay under Pochettino
Reports have claimed that Conor Gallagher is far less keen right now on leaving Chelsea this summer.
According to The Mirror, the midfielder is convinced he can fight for his place under the new manager, Mauricio Pochettino.
Gallagher certainly earned himself plenty of gametime in his first real season as a Chelsea player. He was a favourite under both Graham Potter and Frank Lampard during their respective tenures.
The most notable version of this happening was when the England international started in a front three against Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-+final.
It seems as if the 23-year-old was going to be one of the first players out of the door this summer, as the club look to enter somewhat of a rebuild.
Gallagher wants to stay
Given the fact that any transfer fees received for Gallagher would be complete profit due to his previous status as an academy player, he looked a safe bet for one of the first to be sold this summer.
This is because the club are going to need to sell this summer in order to be able to sign players the calibre they need to compete again.
However, it seems there are now doubts one of them will be Gallagher, who is safe in the knowledge that Pochettino does enjoy using homegrown players in his team.
It looks as if this is set to continue at his new club, with reports stating that he is keen to keep Levi Colwill for example after his impressive loan spell at Brighton.
One player his appointment looks to have come too late for is Mason Mount, who has reportedly agreed personal terms over a potential move to Old Trafford and Manchester United.
