Top 10 most followed men’s tennis players on Instagram

Unsurprisingly the Big Three of Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer dominate the top of the list, but what about the rest?
Unlike the women’s top 10 list where there are several retired players feature, the ATP list is dominated by active stars.
Top 10 most followed men’s tennis players on Instagram
10. Dominic Thiem – 1.4 million followers (@domithiem)
2020 US Open champion Dominic Thiem is no longer at the very top of his game as he has struggled with injury over the past few years.
However, the Austrian remains one of the most popular men’s tennis players on Instagram as he remains very active on the social media platform.
Posts about his rehab, pictures about his on-court activity, photos of his life away from the court and link-ups with his sponsors dominate his feed.
9. Stefanos Tsitsipas – 1.7 million followers (@stefanostsitsipas98)
Novak Djokovic once described Stefanos Tsitsipas as “one of the most interesting characters in tennis” and the Greek is known for his inspirational quotes or philosophy posts.
Although he keeps most of the creative quotes on Twitter and dedicates his Instagram account to his tennis career, travels, sponsors and the occasional family snaps.
8. Alexander Zverev – 1.8 million followers (@alexzverev123)
Alexander Zverev was once one of the rising stars of tennis, but he has struggled in recent years, although he remains an avid Instagram poster.
The Tokyo Olympic gold medalists promotes his sponsors and his academy, shares images of his tennis journey and also snaps of his holidays.
7. Juan Martin Del Potro – 1.8 million followers – (@delpotrojuan)
2009 US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro is not very active on Instagram, but still has a big enough following to make this list.
The Argentine has not played competitive tennis since early 2022 due to an injury with many assuming he had retired, but he might still return to court soon.
Holiday photos, posts of Lionel Messi and the Argetina football team, Richard Branson and more are all part of his Insta portfolio.
6. Andy Murray – 1.9 million followers – (@andymurray)
Three-time Grand Slam winner Andy Murray is definitely no longer as active as he used to be on Instagram when it comes to posts as you only get an update every now and then.
However, he still does the Instagram Story regularly and is often happy to do Q&As with his followers.
5. Carlos Alcaraz – 2.4m followers (@carlitosalcarazz)
Carlos Alcaraz is one of the hottest prospects in tennis and it is no surprise that he is making his way up the list of most popular players on Instagram.
The Spaniard burst onto the scene in 2022 when he beat a string of high-profile players to win a string of high-profile tournaments. Later that he won the US Open and in the process became the youngest world No 1 in history. Of course, big deals and more Instagram followers followed.
4. Nick Kyrgios – 4.1m followers – (@k1ngkyrg1os)
Nick Kyrgios is as controversial on Instagram as he is on court. Sure there are no outbursts, but he won’t hesitate to criticise anyone – and we mean anyone – on the platform.
The Australian regular shares images of his girlfried Costeen Hatzi, his basketball escapades, family and more. He’s also very good at answering questions from fans.
3. Roger Federer – 11.5m followers (@rogerfederer)
The now retired 20-time Grand Slam winner only joined Instagram back in 2014, announcing it with much fanfare on Facebook, saying: I launched my @instagram account yesterday. You can catch me here: http://instagram.com/rogerfederer”.
And nine years later he has 11.5m followers.
Instead of keeping a low profile following his retirement in 2022, Federer has been keeping busy and flying from one end the world to the other and you can catch every move on Instagram.
Interestingly, Federer was overtaken by footballer Alisha Lehmann as Switzerland’s most followed sportsperson on the platform as she has more than 13m followers.
2. Novak Djokovic – 12.6m followers (@djokernole)
Back in 2021 Novak Djokovic found himself in third place behind his two great rivals Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in terms of Instagram followers, but he has surged past Federer.
Whereas Nadal and Federer don’t post too many pictures of their families, Djokovic does share a lot of private photos, especially of his wife Jelena.
Of course there are also the usual posts about his sponsors, tournament wins, etc. from the 22-time Grand Slam, who has won $167,118,273 in prize money so far in his career.
1. Rafael Nadal – 18.4m followers (@rafaelnadal)
Rafael Nadal is the most-followed tennis personality – man or woman – on Instagram as he is a couple of million clear of Serena Williams (who tops the women’s list).
It is not a surprise as the Spaniard is one of the all-time greats to have played the sport, having won 22 Grand Slams – including a record 14 titles at Roland Garros.
From his on and off-court activities to posts about his sponsors and the Rafa Nadal Academy and even tributes to other sporting heroes, Nadal is fairly active. Although one thing that he doesn’t post regularly about is his family. You find any pictures of his son – or even his wife in recent years.
