Tottenham are willing to pay the release clause for former Liverpool midfielder – Harry Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is reportedly prepared to pay the release clause for former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso, according to a report from The Mirror.
The club has identified the former Spain international as their top target for the vacant managerial position at the North London club. It would cost Spurs one year of Alonso’s salary at Bayer Leverkusen to bring him to Tottenham.
Despite Alonso stating earlier this week that he is fully focused on his job at Bayer Leverkusen for the rest of this season and the next, Tottenham have continued to pursue the former midfielder.
Alonso has done an exceptional job at Leverkusen and has guided the team to the semifinals of the UEFA Europa League this season. The team’s impressive performances have also been reflected in their current sixth-place position in the German league.
If Tottenham are successful in securing Alonso’s services, it could be a significant new chapter for the club. The former Liverpool midfielder has proven himself to be a talented and promising young manager.
