Tottenham now register interest in London rival’s ‘immense’ 25-year-old

Tottenham Hotspur have now registered an interest in a potential summer transfer for Fulham ace Tosin Adarabioyo. The defender is also now ready to leave Craven Cottage.

That is according to the Daily Mail, which reports that Tottenham have now formalised the north Londoners’ interest in Adarabioyo. Spurs have taken a keen look at the 25-year-old’s situation in west London with the centre-back about to enter the final year of his contract.

Adarabioyo has held talks with Fulham about a potential new long-term contract but failed to find an agreement. The Craven Cottage natives triggered a one-year extension in his deal in January. But the clause only ensured they avoided seeing him leave for free this summer.

Tottenham are targeting Adarabioyo as Sanchez looks to leave

A potential chance to sign Adarabioyo appeals greatly to Tottenham with Davinson Sanchez also pushing to leave Spurs in the summer transfer window. But the Fulham star is just one defensive target that the north London team are exploring for new boss Ange Postecoglou.

Fulham have not given up all hope of convincing Adarabioyo to agree to a new contract in west London, either. But the Daily Mail also reported earlier this week that after the club’s talks with the defender’s camp broke down, their confidence in his new deal is nearly over.

Fulham accept they may have to cash in on the defender this year

Adarabioyo is ready to leave Fulham, too, with the 6 ft 5 enforcer keen to embark on a new challenge. He moved to Craven Cottage in October 2020 from Manchester City for £8m and has amassed 107 appearances. The ex-England U19 gem only played eight games with City.

A spate of foreign teams could offer Adarabioyo the new challenge he is after this summer. Inter Milan watched the former Blackburn Rovers loanee, where Tony Mowbray called him ‘immense’ in November 2019, during the 2022/23 term to possibly replace Milan Skriniar.

AS Monaco and Stade Rennais are also interested in tempting Adarabioyo to Ligue 1. While Fulham accept they may have to cash in on Adarabioyo amid Tottenham’s interest to avoid the potential of a free transfer in 2024. Even if they are reluctant to see him leave the club.
