Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are battling to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Manuel Ugarte. The latest report comes from L’Equipe‘s Loïc Tanzi, who reported on Sunday that Ugarte had accepted PSG’s offer and wants to join the capital club.

However, the French journalist notes that Sporting is blocking Ugarte’s move to Paris because the Portuguese club wants the midfielder to accept the offer from Chelsea.

Tanzi revealed that the Premier League club’s offer is unprecedented: payment of the release clause, which is €60 million, solidarity mechanisms and a minority investment in the Portuguese club. 

If the deal is concluded with the English side, UEFA will examine this type of unprecedented negotiation. Additionally, Ugarte’s contract with Chelsea would be for eight years, which will also be examined.

As a result, it will be interesting to see if PSG and Ugarte can push their agreement over the line or whether Chelsea can do enough to sway the Uruguayan to head to London.
