Wolves don’t want Guedes repeat and must consider avoiding Ansu Fati

Wolves are being heavily linked with a move for Ansu Fati, who could apparently come to Molineux this summer as part of a deal that would see Ruben Neves sign for Barcelona.

The notion of a player swap was first floated a few weeks ago.

And SPORT have reported today that the idea is still to have the two players swap clubs, so that Barca can avoid paying straight cash for Neves.

But the issue according to the publication is that Fati has still not given the move the green light.

Over the past few weeks, it has never once been claimed that Fati is keen to come to Wolves.

Apparently, he has wanted to stay at the Camp Nou, even though he seemingly isn’t in Xavi’s long-term plans.

Supposedly Jorge Mendes is trying to push Fati to join Wolves, so that Neves can get his move to the Spanish giants.

But if Fati does not fancy a switch to Molineux, then the club simply cannot go ahead with this deal. Even if there is only a shred of doubt in Fati’s mind.

Wolves could potentially make decent money on Neves.

So it would be a travesty if this swap deal came to fruition, and the club ended up with a player that didn’t truly want to be at Molineux.

As good as Fati is and as much potential as he has, there is just no way Wolves should be entertaining it.

Goncalo Guedes transfer should serve as warning to Wolves over potential Ansu Fati-Ruben Neves swap deal

We have seen with the Goncalo Guedes deal that it just isn’t worth signing a talented player if their heart isn’t 100% in the move.

Some of Guedes’ performances were atrocious before he left the club in January to join Benfica on loan. Julen Lopetegui confirmed that the player just didn’t want to be there.

It always felt as though Guedes only moved to Wolves because it benefitted Mendes. And those Premier League wages were likely very nice for him.

The transfer was a failure, and now Wolves will struggle to recoup the £27.5 million they paid Valencia.

Wanderers need to seriously consider if Fati would actually be worth bringing to Molineux. We’ve seen the positive effect of Wolves bringing in the right, committed characters in January.

Club officials need to ensure that he would be 100% committed to the club’s project. If there is any doubt whatsoever, a deal should be completely abandoned.

Many Wolves fans would absolutely fume if there was another Guedes situation.
